For Sale: A Menagerie of Pre-Made Book Covers

For Sale: A Menagerie of Pre-Made Book Covers

I have a cover design problem; maybe you have a solution.

You see, I love designing them for absolutely no reason (although commissioned covers are fun too). Whenever I’m bored during a movie, waiting for something, or just randomly have a design idea, off I pop to Canva and I’m doodling up something.

Because of this, I have far too many cute covers without stories, and that’s where you come in. Would you be willing to buy one of these? Maybe there’s one that fits your current WIP, or a book that needs a design refresh, or one holds your next idea…

If you’d like to “rescue” a cover from the depths of my files, here’s how it works.

  1. You browse through and fall in love.
  2. Notice the letter and number on the caption.
  3. Fill out the Google form with that number and your info.
  4. I contact you, we do PayPal or CashApp, I customize the title/author name, and it’s all yours.

Simple as that. 😉 Let’s get to the covers…

These covers are ones that were more simple for me to make, and I’d like to offer them for $5 each.

This is my mid-tier flight of covers for $10 each.

And these are my top-tier covers for $25 each.

I’m also currently offering custom ebook covers for $25 and an added back cover (to any cover you purchase) for $15.

Thanks for looking at my art! 😉

Some Very Bookish Updates ;)

Some Very Bookish Updates ;)

Guys, I’m getting more and more excited by the day. 😍 It finally hit me today, after a video call with my fellow anthology authors, that this is real!

AHHHHHHHH!!! I’m here to spill all the details. 😉

First off, we have a blurb…

Nyree moves when she loses her job, hoping to reconnect with herself and her grandmother in time for Easter, but when she stumbles upon a hidden garden, she discovers just how much she’s been missing.
The Prayer Garden by Kelsey Bryant, inspired by The Secret Garden

Felicity goes out of her comfort zone and invites Adam Moore to Easter service, but their business rivalry has him ready to prove her evangelization wrong.
Lilies and Thorns by Abigayle Claire, inspired by Romeo and Juliet

Samuel is haunted by his past and unsettled by the present, but as the Easter season begins, Ellie could show him what his future could be.
An Easter Canticle by Sarah Holman, inspired by A Christmas Carol

Addie hopes for a fresh start when she and her family move to the mountains to live with Grandfather, but some wounds seem too deep to heal, even at Easter.
Addie’s Mountain by Kate Willis, inspired by Heidi

Four classic-inspired Easter stories full of hope, faith, and the miracle of resurrection.

And we have a release date–March 1st, 2023–which also means it’s AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER! *happy dance* We’ll have some pre-order goodies available soon to boot. 😉

And if you’d like to be part of the launch team (maybe get an ARC of one of the stories? 👀), you can sign up here.

Wow, that was a lot. I hope your week (and this new month!) is going well. 😉

My Guide to the Indie Black Friday Booksale!

My Guide to the Indie Black Friday Booksale!

So I’ve been a bit M.I.A. lately due to flu and holiday season, but I’m popping in to let you know…

INDIE BOOK BLACK FRIDAY SALE IS HERE!!!

This year there are over 600 titles for free and $0.99, and yes, I’m freaking out. 😉

Historically, I’ve picked up a lot of good books through this sale, and a ton of my most recommended books (everything by Hope Ann, Gift from the Storm, etc.), as well as a few popular series I haven’t tried yet (Ilyon Chronicles and Blades of Acktar, anyone?), are available, so definitely scroll through.

(A few authors like myself might be offering discounted paperbacks through their own sites, I hear. 👀)

Below are just a few recommendations to get you started (but also go buy all the books that I’m always title-dropping), and then I’m sharing my personal shopping list. 😉

(Prices aren’t live yet! And these are not affiliate links.)

The Kate Reading Fiend Recommends…

Two of my new favorite finds this year Should We Tell Her? by Lillian Keith and The Toymaker’s Doll by E.G. Bella, both perfect for all ages.

This humorous and sweet fairytale retelling, A Twist of Adventure by Kendra E. Ardnek (and she has a ton more ENTIRE SERIESES I didn’t know about that I simply must try someday?!!)

I know I’m constantly talking about Hope Ann’s fairytale retelling, but you must simply check out her empathy-superhero standalone Healer’s Bane.

And of course, the first five books in the Kate’s Case Files series by Sarah Holman (there’s even a Christmas one). Perfectly bingeable for winter break. *wink, wink*

The Perry Kirkpatrick’s pen name’s mermaid trilogy with mental health rep, and deep things, and ADORABLE SHIP. Ahem.

Also, of course, all The Accidental Cases of Emily Abbott by Perry Kirkpatrick, particularly the darling Christmas special. 😉

The Kate Shopping Fiend Is Eyeing…

So I actually already have a copy of The Blue of Torches: Ignited by C.R. Kelchner cause we know the author and bought a paperback during release week, but I convinced the author to join so just had to mention this here. 😉

I read the short story version of Last Wish by Valerie Howard when it first released but it looks like she expanded it into a novel??! More to love, I guess, so I’ll be checking this out. 😉

I somehow missed getting this book (take my superfan card) and want to read the next of Hope Ann’s Legends of Light, so I’m going to fix this oversight.

I really enjoyed my first Mrs. Meade Mystery by Elisabeth Grace Foley, so I’ll definitely be buying another one or three. 😉

Ahhhhhhh, literally one of my most anticipated new releases of all time, and I was super surprised to see it show up on the sale this year. I. will. be. snagging. 👏

Whether or not any of these books are up your alley, there’s really something for everyone (including all my books) so off you browse! (HERE)

Happy reading!

Love and Memory Cover Reveal (+Happy Deals)

Love and Memory Cover Reveal (+Happy Deals)

I read Water Princess, Fire Prince by Kendra Ardnek in it’s first edition cover and loved it to pieces, then absolutely gawked over the new cover for it and the second one, so today I’m particularly excited to share the cover for the third book with you. ❤

First, a snippet from the book. 😉

It wasn’t far to Petra’s room where he flicked on the light. There she was, sprawled across her bed, a pillow hugged to her chest. Reuben smiled to himself as he walked over to the bed, sat down at her side, took her hand, and closed his eyes.

Immediately, he plunged into her dream. The reality of her bedroom stripped away into the castle where they’d lived for thirty years in Rizkaland. She stood in the courtroom, their fellow kings and queens around them, the people spread before them. But everything wavered with a strange, filmy quality. Only she was solid.

So it always was when one walked waking into the other’s dream.

If you’ve read the first two books, you know this is going to be hard and lovely. 😭🥰

Now take a look at the cover…

When a Queen forgets,

Her enemies rejoice in her weakness.

But when the Queen remembers,

They tremble in fear.

When a King loves,

His country rejoices with him.

But when that love is broken.

The land is broken, too.

Can Water and Fire join again?

Can Love and Memory be restored?

They spent years in Rizkaland. They ruled the land, forged friendships, built families, and made it their home. But then it was time to return to Earth, and their former lives just don’t fit anymore. Clara and Andrew struggle to reevaluate their priorities when hundreds of miles separate them. Reuben and Petra are lost as they seek a balance between their old friendship and their Rizkan marriage. And Ashna and Noraeto never planned to return, so what life is there for them on Earth?

When the unthinkable happens and a new enemy arises, they’re all thrown back into Rizkaland, into a young prince’s rise to power and struggle to build alliances for his kingdom. But they no longer belong in their other world, either.

Are good memories too much to bear?”

Book Friday Just Gets Better

Book Friday Just Gets Better

First there were 150. Then it grew to 280. Now, this year the Indie Black Friday Book Sale has 400+ titles for free and $0.99. 😍😍

Within those titles are a lot of old favorites. 😉

Emmeline by Sarah Holman. The first three books of her Kate’s Case Files series. (I love this series, y’all.) Perry Kirkpatrick’s Kitten File Mysteries, The Accidental Cases of Emily Abbott (including the most recent ones! 😍😍), and the Shallows trilogy. The entire Firmament Series is on sale too, and I just gotta remind you all–the most recent book wrecked me and I’d like to share my pain.

*runs around screaming*

🤩🤩🤩

If you’ve been waiting to try any of these authors or need to catch up on a series… now is the time. 😁

I’m also eyeing a few new books I just might give a try. A quick reminder, the prices aren’t live until Friday 11.27. 😉

I scrolled by this cover a few times thinking the cover looked like a cute sister story, but then the blurb made me wonder–is this the same girl in different worlds??? And now I’m intrigued. 😁 (Link to book)

Rebekah Morris has a new series, y’all! I didn’t know more than just the first book were released, so… I’m tempted. 😉

This one honestly sounds like such a cute idea, and I seriously love the vibes of that window. 😍

A matchmaker grannies series?!! With adorable covers??? Someone send help before I buy everything. 💗

I need more superhero books. Simple as that. Okay, and the cover got me. 😂😛

All of my books and short stories are discounted for Black Friday through Cyber Monday as well.

But my favorite thing about this year? That’s more proof that it just gets better and better? 😍😍

I’m finally able to offer signed, deeply discounted paperbacks through my own internet store front. (Thanks to Perry for creating it on such short notice!) 😁🤩

Discounted prices will go live on Black Friday proper, but you can take a peek at the shop here.

I have to stop shopping now because there’s some pie to make for Thanksgiving. 😉 I hope you all have a blessed celebration, whatever that may look like this year! 😉

Oops, Books Are on Sale

Oops, Books Are on Sale

Okay, so it’s Black Friday again. *sucks in breath* Remember that sale last year with 150+ indie books available? It’s happening again with 280 or so books in it this time. 😮 😍

I browsed through the titles today, and it was so exciting to see so many of my favorites on sale for $0.99 or even free. Some highlights I recommend…

  1. The Accidental Cases of Emily Abbott series (I looooved these so much this summer that I’ve been re-reading them already. 😀 )
  2. At the Christmas Lodge (This one is super cute, and yes, I think I recommend it constantly. 😁 )
  3. The Shallows trilogy (Aaaaaahhhh! The entire series on Kindle for less than 2 bucks?! Do it.)
  4. The Beast of Talesend (This was a hilarious find this year. 😂)
  5. Emmeline & Suit and Suitability (These are both from the Vintage Jane Austen series and are my favorites.)
  6. Implant (Super clever sci-fi!! A bit gruesome in some parts, FYI. Read my review.)

(All of my books are on sale as well if you’ve been waiting to get any. 😉 )

I’m also really excited to pick up some books I’ve had my eye on (finishing series is a good thing, right?!) and try out a couple new ones.

The Lady and the Frog by L. Palmer has THE most adorable cover and a really quirky sounding plot. It also come highly recommended from some Goodreads friends, so yay!

The Case of the Invisible Thief by Perry Kirkpatrick is the latest Kitten Files mystery, and I still haven’t read it. #fangirlfail This must be remedied. 😁

I read the first two books in the Firmament series by J. Grace Pennington years ago, and I think now it’s time to continue. Machiavellian and Reversal Zone are going in the digital cart. 😉

Are you buying any books today? Which ones are you most excited about?

I’ve Got My Eye on These Books

I’ve Got My Eye on These Books

Black Friday is always somewhat exciting for me, but it gets even worse when 150 indie books go on sale for under $1 at the same time. *wonders if my budget will make it out alive* *wonders if I want it to make it out alive*

Not only are there a ton of my favorites available (like Sarah Holman’s Tales of Taelis series or The Kitten Files series by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick), but there’s also many more I’ve been meaning to try out sometime. (And then there are old favorites in paperback. Do I really need another copy of Gift from the Storm just because it’s only $7.20?)

Oh, and I already went to the Christian bookstore today and bought a couple things for myself and a couple others as gifts. *sheepish smile*

But I still let myself dream and budget, and here’s what I’m most interested in right now…

hesmakingdiamonds.jpg

He’s Making Diamonds by S.G. Willoughby has me curious and hopeful. My family has been through the wringer in the health area this year, and this sweet gal’s book looks like it might speak right to us. 😉 Also, it’s in paperback and those are just lovely.

lightporter.jpg

I haven’t even read Twinepathy (the first book in this series) yet, and Lightporter by C.B. Cook is tempting me. Maybe it’s because I’ve loved books by her in the past or it’s that I’m sure I’ll love Twinepathy and I want this on hand when I need it. 😉 It looks super fun. 😀

theworthofaking.jpg

Ooooo, pretty cover! Also, The Worth of a King is a fantasy by Kendra Ardnek, and it’s a good price for how hefty it is, and… someone send help. (I need a book shopping intervention. 😛 )

whenbeautyblooms.jpg

And last but not least, When Beauty Blooms by Victoria Lynn because it’s historical, sweet-looking, and I love this author’s stuff.

What book sales are driving you happily crazy right now? 😀 Do you prefer to visit stores or shop online?

Oh, and apparently there’s a blog tour with the HUGEST giveaway I’ve ever seen going on over at Ruffles and Grace, so…

Leftover Book Stock Time!

Leftover Book Stock Time!

Does your family have “leftover day”? Like where you go through the fridge and either score the last hamburger or end up with beans and bananas and existential dread?

I promise this leftover day on my blog will be better than that because I have leftover book stock from the convention! I’m offering signed copies at the convention discount (+shipping). There are even some scratch and dent copies too. 😉

(Sorry, this is a sell-y post. If you don’t want to read it, just scroll to the end where I philosophize on why bags of rice seem to multiply in the back of the fridge.)

IMG_20180806_144910

Kiera (Buy link, what a surprise)

img_20180806_144840.jpg

The Twin Arrows (You can buy a convention-priced, signed copy here.)

As far as scratch and dent goes, I currently have a ton. 😉 I’ve had several bad printings of The Treasure Hunt lately (working to fix that), but in the meantime, I have all these perfectly readable but not perfect looking 1/2 price copies for ya. 😉

IMG_20180806_144343

(Boring buy link)

I also have four copies of Kiera that turned out practically perfect in every way except this weird little spot on the front page… (If you want, I draw over it with a really cool picture of a flower or a Gargoyle even.)

IMG_20180806_144717

(Snag your copy)

And I do have one copy of The Twin Arrows that didn’t pass muster, but the speckles on the front page wouldn’t show up in a picture, so you’ll just have to trust me on that. 😛 (Obligatory link for that)

So, there you are! If you missed the convention but want a signed copy a dollar or two less than on Amazon, now’s your chance! 😉

Also, why do you think rice seems to multiply in the back of the fridge? Without fail, there are at least two Ziploc bags in there, and I didn’t think we ate rice that often. O.o.

(A note to my international buddies–I will ship to you but the shipping you pay will be a lot higher. Sorry about that. 😦 I’d live in England if I could! 😉 If you’re still in, contact me, and we’ll discuss what the rate will be.)

This bad photography was brought to you by me. All rights naturally reserved because no one wants to steal horrible pictures.
They’re Here!

They’re Here!

Guess what I just got in the mail today??!! Ten gorgeous copies of my little book The Twin Arrows. 😀

I was a little nervous since this is only my second shipment of this book every, and I’m well aware that results may vary–but they turned out beautifully! And now they’re all ready to be signed and shipped out to all your happy mailboxes.

(What does a happy mailbox look like, exactly? Maybe this one?)

mailbox-595854_1920

Paperback copies are $8 + $3 shipping just like on Amazon, but the big perk is that this way you can get it signed!!! (Like you need to see my handwriting, but that’s beside the point…) You can buy one here…

(Note: preference will be given to those who have already put in dibs for a copy. 😉 )

I also have scratch and dent copies of my first book The Treasure Hunt steeply discounted while supplies last. (Wow, that sounded so officially market-y…) As in… $2 + $3 shipping… You can buy one here…

And on a more personal note, I’ve been editing a Christmas short story, reading lots of Christmas short stories ❤ , and trying to keep up on school and book reviews. 😉 How has your weekend been?
