A Long, Drawn-Out Pause

A Long, Drawn-Out Pause

I was humming along, minding my own business when Covid knocked me down for three weeks.

I had a fever for a few days, congestion, lost my sense of taste and smell (sooo weird! It was like having earplugs in one of my senses that is honestly usually overwhelming. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚), and thought I was on track to recover in 10 days like my brother and my fiance did when I received a few plot twists. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was brought through by the prayers of my friends and family, antibiotics and an inhaler (I love that thing), and Great British Bake-Off and Instagram reels.

I’ve been “better” for a few days now, just in time to finish planning my wedding. I still get tired easily and potatoes still taste WEIRD, but I’m so grateful to be breathing easily and allowed to be around my family. God is so good to me.

Now the wedding is four days away. If I think too hard, I can panic over the weeks lost and the tasks that match them, but I’m excited it’s happening and people have been so generous and helpful.

I finally got to see our apartment recently, and it’s the cutest little bean. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Joshua’s been setting up furniture, and I got to unpack some of our bridal shower gifts into the kitchen. He just set up a bookshelf, and I seriously can’t wait to unpack my book babies and Funko Pops. I think then it will really feel like home.

If possible, I’m even more excited to grocery shop and plan our meals. I’ve been learning a lot about food lately, so I’m kinda wanting to experiment. #buysallthearugula

I’ll be back with pictures and writing talk (and maybe some Black Friday sales ๐Ÿ˜‰) soon, but for now, more rest and savoring the moment. ๐Ÿงก

  2. Oh dear! The โ€˜Rona is NO fun!! I had it in October, an when you throw asthma into the mix it was no picnic!
Be glad only potatoes taste weird to you โ€” for me, meat smelled HORRIBLY ROTTEN! And I didnโ€™t know that was caused by Covid โ€” I only knew that all the meat in the freezer that I was attempting to turn into chili was all rotten, and I threw out ten pounds. OF GROUND MEAT :O :O :O This was 2ish months after recovery.
I complained to a friend, and she was the one who had researched it and shared with me. After โ€˜Rona, meat can smell rotten.
And congrats on the upcoming wedding!! So glad youโ€™re well for it!!

    1. Oh, dear, I’m so sorry! That must have been really scary.

Ew that’s terrible and hilarious! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ My taste and smell have been in and out, but I think they’re pretty normal now, phew.

      Thanks so much!

  3. First off: I’m so sorry you went through that! I got covid on my birthday this year ๐Ÿ˜‚ My doctor said that the sense of taste and smell thing is a sort of after-effect of covid? So it’s been lasting a while for my family. Coconut finally tastes normal again, but coffee and bananas are still weird for me. ๐Ÿ˜…
Second off: CONGRATULATIONS!! I can’t believe you’re getting married *checks date* *stares at date* Oh hey you’re married now! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

    1. Oh my word, that’s the worst time to get it. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ Ohh, interesting! I’ve had a hard time with coffee too! Which was hilarious because our wedding cake had coffee flavored icing. #badplanninglol

Haha, thank you so much!!! โค๏ธ I can still barely believe it’s real except that I’m sitting in our apartment right now missing my HUSBAND while he’s at work??? So weird and wonderful, lol.

      1. No way! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Oh no! (Also, thatโ€™s an amazing choice of flavour when covid isnโ€™t around ๐Ÿ˜)

Thatโ€™s awesome!! Iโ€™m so happy for you! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜
