My “Accidental” Kindle Unlimited (and How That Messes with Goals)

Back in August, I wrote a blog post called “I Want to Read Good Books Slowly” and the sentiment still rings true… Except…

I accidentally spent $10 on another month of Kindle Unlimited, and I’m trying to make it count. XD When I had the free trial, I could read a book here and there, but now that I bought it, I must CRAM.

Which means that I’ve been reading good books but not exactly slowly. πŸ˜‰ XD

I’ve been using it to catch up on/finish series. So far I’ve read The Case of the Very Bad Cat by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (#4 in a series) and Fine Print by Chautona Havig (#3 in a series). It’s been so amazing to finally read these books, and I’m super happy that the authors are getting paid for every page I read. πŸ˜‰

I took a break from KU cramming to read an ARC of this aaaammmmaazzzing book!! Hope Ann’s new novella Healer’s Bane is one of her best yet. I can’t wait for you all to read it. πŸ˜‰

Next, I’m planning to read Dead Letter (the next book in the Chautona Havig series I’m stuck in right now), Legends by Denver Evans (final book in the trilogy!!! ❀ ), and Speak Your Mind by Allyson Kennedy.

It’s been quite a lot of fun checking out books I’ve either always wanted to read or been desperately waiting to be released. Though I am a bit behind on reviews now…

What have you been reading? πŸ˜€

  1. ooooooooooOOOO YOU HAVE KINDLE UNLIMITED!! I would totally get it but I don’t have the means of getting it right now, so. xD I’ve been reading A Song Unheard, Wooing Cadie McCaffrey, and A Time of Trepidation by Nicki Chapelway. πŸ˜‰

  2. Kindle unlimited IS really nice though. πŸ‘Right now I’m actually reading a lot of books, some of which I started in January 😝
    Right now I’m reading…
    Gardening with less water,
    Evidence not seen,
    Biblical Economics in comics,
    Never forget.

  3. Fun post, Kate! Reading fast is fun XD Right now I’m reading the Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson, I’m on the second book, Firefight, right now. As the first Brandon Sanderson book I’ve read, it’s living up to expectations so far! 😊

    1. It’s a subscription thing Amazon does where you pay a monthly fee to be able to borrow up to ten Kindle books at a time. It’s been really fun since a lot of the books I’ve been wanting to read are in the $3-$5 range, which is a LOT more than I usually spend on an ebook, so borrowing it is a blessing. πŸ˜‰ Because the authors get paid per page I read, in some cases they get paid even more than if I had outright bought the book. I hope that explains things pretty well. πŸ˜‰

  4. I think we’ve all accidentally overstayed a trial period and gotten dinged with at least one payment. But I’m thinking about what an awesome time in your life when you have a good reason to choose reading over almost everything else πŸ€—

  5. It’s awesome that you get to read those books on Kindle Unlimited! But also stressful, perhaps. πŸ™‚ I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it, without a hassle!

This week, I finally got to read a new book that I’d been looking forward to – A Sidekick’s Tale by Elisabeth Grace Foley. It was amazing and hilarious! You’d like it, actually.

And now I’m rereading God’s Smuggler by Brother Andrew, and it’s just as amazing and encouraging and faith-building a second time.

    1. It’s been mostly a very fun, good thing, though I am behind on reviews now. XD

Oh, lovely! I’ve seen that around, and it does look like something I’d enjoy. πŸ˜€

Niiice! I love biographies of heroes of the faith. One of my favorites was one about John Hyde. Have you heard of him?
